Cassia alata (Candle Bush, Empress Candle Plant, Candletree, Candelabra Bush, Ringworm Tree) is Erect to spreading, evergreen shrub or small tree. Broadly oblong to obovate, pinnate leaves, 20-75cm long, have 14-28 oblong, bright green leaflets. Bears numerous bright yellow flowers, to 2.5cm across, in tall, erect, axillary racemes, 15-60cm long. Flowers are protected by broad, yellowish green bracts when in bud. Height 2-10m, Spread 2-5m. Native of Africa of S.E. Asia, Pacific islands, tropical America.
