Tamarindus indica (Tamarind)

Short Description
Medium to a large tree reaching 30 m in height and is reputed to remain productive for 150-200 years. The dome-shaped crown is porus and the tree makes a good windbreak. The clusters of pale yellow flowers turn into curved, rust-colored pods. Fruiting usually commences at ~ 10 years although early fruiting can be obtained via grafting. It has not been observed to modulate but it does have associations with vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi.
